In Southern Oregon, during the Great Depression... Fourteen-year-old, Johnathan Baylee, lives on a farm with his parents and sister. When Johnathan Baylee's hound dog is killed by a puma, he loses a close hunting companion, and a friend. He is haunted by the loss of his dog, until he vows to hunt the puma down. He secretly plans the adventure with his friend, Harold, knowing his parents wouldn't want him hunting a puma. It all goes according to plan... until Johnathan's sister tags along.
